* A personal fall arrest harness & all related gear must undergo a visual inspection each time it is put on.

* A documented inspection must be performed by a competent person at least once a year, & the harness' tag marked accordingly.

* OSHA requires the competent person inspection to be documented.

* The in service date when you start using the harness needs to be recorded.

* Harnesses are good for five years from the in service date, then they must be taken out of service.

* Also, keep in mind that any harness & related gear involved in a fall must be discarded immediately.

If a full body harness manufactured in 08/2011 and put into service in 06/2022?

Harnesses can be used as long as the competent person deems it compliant every year. You also have to look at the manufacturers recommendations to its life span. Most do not have a specific date. This 5 year lifespan is utilized for selling product, but has no backing. There is no OSHA regulation stating this.
