As the Gap Power annual Honda generator instant $100-200 rebate got under way I was curious about Nov. 2015 prices and Amazon reviews for some of the top selling 2,000 Watt generators sold in the USA. Here is what I found:

Honda EU2000i  $999....... 48 reviews. Rating 4.7 of 5.0
Generac IX2000  $589........63 reviews.   Rating 3.6 of 5.0

A question we often hear at Gap Power is this........How reliable is the Honda EU2000i generator?

That question is tough to answer w/o some stats so I dug up some:

First made and sold in 2001.

Used extensively on tough, demanding construction sites - something Honda may never have intended.

Parts sales for the EU2000i here at Gap Power border on none. For example, we sold only a few carburetors per year until ethanol came into widespread use. Even with the damaging effects of ethanol, over the last 5 years we have been selling only about 10 carburetors per year. And we haven't sold enough spark plugs yet to supply one to every EU200i we sold. 

At Gap Power we have sold 1,470 of the Honda EU2000i since 2001.

The EU2000i has had practically no changes made to it in 14 years of production other than what was required to meet changing emission standards.
