Overview

The DrillMatePRO™ Heavy-Duty Portable Drill Press (1348) is designed for portable precision drilling applications where the workpiece is too large or awkward to bring to a stationary drill press table.

Angle Adjustment Range 0° to 60° off vertical (infinite angles)
Primary Material Metal
Color / Finish Silver
Incompatible Tools Not for use with impact drivers or hammer drills

Technical Features

  • ½ in. keyed chuck: Accepts larger and longer drill bits, hole saws, and spade bits, expanding the range of compatible tooling for heavy-duty drilling tasks.
  • Dual ball bearing chuck design: Reduces rotational friction, allowing the chuck to spin with minimal resistance for consistent, controlled operation.
  • Bronze-bushed extruded guide head: Maintains precise alignment throughout the drilling stroke, minimizing lateral deflection and improving hole accuracy.
  • Machined centering lines in the base: Provide a built-in visual reference for quick and accurate positioning over a target mark without additional layout tools.
  • Included alignment disk: Drops into the base to further increase drilling precision when centering on a specific point.
  • V-Grooves in the base: Center the unit automatically on round stock, keeping cylindrical workpieces stable and secure during drilling.
  • Two included centering pins: Usable on top of or beneath the base to enable simple twist-and-center positioning for repeatable hole placement.
  • Independent depth stop system: Allows the operator to set and repeat an exact drilling depth, preventing over-drilling across multiple holes.
  • Dual spring return system: Controls downward drilling pressure, protects the workpiece surface from impact by a heavy drill, and returns the drill to the rest position when not engaged. Springs are removable to achieve greater drilling depth when required.
  • Lockable guide head: Can be fixed in position during bit changes or when operating without the springs installed, adding stability in both configurations.
  • 0° to 60° infinite angle adjustment: Enables angled hole drilling at any increment within the range, eliminating the need for angled jigs in most common applications.

Applications

  • Precision drilling in large or irregularly shaped workpieces that cannot be moved to a stationary drill press
  • Repeat-depth drilling in production or multi-hole layouts where consistent depth is critical
  • Drilling into round stock or pipe using the integrated V-Groove base for stable support
  • Angled hole drilling at defined angles between 0° and 60° off vertical
  • Use with hole saws and spade bits requiring a ½ in. keyed chuck interface
