FAQ

When should I rent a 10,000 lb / 54' telehandler instead of a smaller forklift or crane?

This telehandler is commonly used for: landing palletized masonry block onto four-story scaffolding; placing pre-assembled roof trusses on multi-story commercial buildings; staging framing lumber packages across muddy or unimproved ground; and unloading steel beams or heavy equipment from flatbed trailers. Choose this machine when you need both 54-foot vertical elevation and heavy 10,000 lb capacity on rough terrain. For lower single-story framing under 35 feet or lighter pallet handling under 6,000 lbs, a smaller telehandler will maneuver much faster in confined jobsite footprints. If you are looking for high reach and suspended weight, and excellent alternative is the Magni Rotating Telehandler 98' 13,000 lbs Roto Boom .

Do I need to deploy the outriggers to use the boom?

Yes, outriggers must be lowered to the ground whenever elevating the boom higher than 42 feet or handling loads that require stabilized chart ratings. When deployed, the outriggers span 12.5 feet wide. Ensure your staging area has adequate lateral space and firm, compacted ground to support the outrigger pads before lifting.

Can this telehandler lift its full 10,000 lb capacity at maximum height or horizontal reach?

No, maximum capacity ratings apply only when the boom is retracted and at steep lift angles close to the front of the machine. As you telescope outward toward the 39-foot maximum horizontal reach or up to 54 feet, allowable payload decreases substantially. Always check the in-cab load chart corresponding to your specific boom angle and outrigger position before picking up a load.

How is this telehandler transported to my jobsite?

With an operating weight of roughly 30,000 lbs and dimensions of 20 feet long by 8.5 feet wide, this machine cannot be hauled on standard equipment trailers and requires commercial semi-truck lowboy transport. Gap Power also offers jobsite delivery, make sure to verify that your delivery location has wide, clear access roads and adequate turning radius for a tractor-trailer.

What fork and carriage options are available for this unit?

Gap Power offers a variety of attachments including, a carriage, concrete hopper, and work platform. Each rental comes equipped with standard forks at no charge. Standard fork tines are available in 4-foot, 5-foot, and 6-foot lengths, along with 10-foot fork extensions for bulky materials. Carriage options include fixed, tilt, and swing carriages in 4-foot, 5-foot, or 6-foot widths to simplify placing loads onto unlevel surfaces or through narrow framing bays.
