Laser Cleaning Restoration System Rental, 500W

LASCLE

Rental Item Details

Laser Watts 500W
Safety Requires Laser Rated glasses

The ALR 500W Pulse Laser is an advanced wood and metal restoration system for removing coatings and rust without harming the underlying wood and metal.

***CLASS 4 Laser Safety Training must be completed before operation***
Price is $30 to complete the training and will include an LSO certification

Training can also be completed in store at the training Kiosk ($30 fee still applies)

In addition to the training, the $30 will give you access to the ALR AI agent (essentially ChatGPT customized for this laser).  You can take pictures of your project, describe the results of the laser and ask any question regarding the laser's operation.   The AI agent will assist by providing settings to fine tune the laser to your project and give tips on how to maximize the laser removal on your material.

Laser cleaning works extremely well and turns painstaking sanding into a simple, fast, detail preserving project.  Different paints and stains react very differently to a laser.  Many videos and descriptions make a laser look like magic... and on those coatings where they work well, it does give excellent results.  However, not all coatings remove quickly with a laser.  It can be necessary to remove old or thick paint or other coatings with a paint stripper before using the laser to remove the final underlying coating.  Our experience is that old wooden house features like windows, door sills (inside and out), outside trim, etc... that have been painted over many times do not remove well with the use of a laser.

***It is highly recommended to bring along a sample when picking up the laser to determine immediately if the laser will remove your coating as expected.  We will setup the laser and do a trial on your material before you take the laser.***

Kit includes the laser, air compressor, and vacuum.  Each unit will require its own 15Amp 120V power source (outlet)  15A x 3

FAQ

When should I choose this 500W pulse laser system instead of abrasive blasting or chemical strippers?

This is commonly used for: precision rust removal on metal; restoring historic wood beams and architectural millwork; smoke and soot remediation after fire damage; delicate automotive restoration without metal warping; cleaning industrial molds and tooling. It shines where sandblasting would erode substrate detail or leave messy media residue behind. However, for thick, multi-layered house paint on exterior trim or window sashes, mechanical scraping or chemical strippers are typically faster and more cost-effective.

What training and safety precautions are required before I can rent and use this laser?

Because this is a powerful Class 4 laser, operators must complete a Class 4 Laser Safety Training course and obtain an LSO certification before operation. The training fee is $30 and can be completed online in advance or at the store kiosk upon arrival. Laser-rated safety glasses are mandatory for anyone inside the work zone to prevent permanent eye injury. Gap Power also requires a demonstration with a sample of your project which will ensure the lazer will fulfill your needs and provide hands on training with the lazer. Demonstrations must be scheduled in advance to rental, and can be set up by calling our rental team and setting up the appointment

What are the electrical power requirements to run the complete restoration kit?

The full setup includes three separate electric components: the 500W pulse laser, an air compressor, and an extraction vacuum. Each individual machine requires its own dedicated 15-amp, 120-volt circuit (three independent 15A circuits total) to avoid tripping breakers during operation.

What comes with the rental kit, and how do I dial in the correct settings?

The kit includes the 500W pulse laser, an auxiliary air compressor, and an extraction vacuum. Completing the $30 rental training also unlocks access to the ALR AI assistant, allowing you to upload jobsite photos and receive expert setting recommendations tailored to your specific material and coating.

Can the laser cleaning system remove thick, multi-layer paint from old wood trim and doors?

Laser cleaning is generally slow on heavy paint buildup, such as exterior trim or window sills coated with decades of paint. For heavy coatings, we recommend stripping the bulk paint with a conventional stripper first, then using the pulse laser to cleanly pull remaining residue and stain out of the grain without damaging the wood fibers.

Can this system be used indoors, and how are fumes and vaporized coatings handled?

Yes, the system is suitable for indoor remediation projects when used with proper safety protocols. The included extraction vacuum collects vaporized paint, soot, and particulate directly at the work surface to maintain clean air and minimize cleanup in finished interior spaces.
