A perfect fit for the demanding professional, this MS441 or MS461 Stihl, is one tough, high-performance chain saw. High engine power and torque, resulting in an impressive power-to-weight ratio, make this tool a great all around professional chain saw for forest or tree service.

Helmet, chaps, bar and chain oil, wrench, an extra chain, and 1 gallon of 2-cycle mixed gas. Sometimes referred to as a tree cutter.

FAQ

When should I choose this 28" Stihl chainsaw instead of a smaller model?

This high-performance professional chainsaw is designed for heavy-duty timber tasks where smaller saws lack the reach or engine power. It is ideal for: felling large mature trees; bucking thick trunks into firewood - up to 28" logs in one cut, 56" in two cuts; clearing heavy storm-damaged hardwood; and deep timber cutting on professional tree service jobsites. For light pruning, limbing small branches, or basic yard maintenance, a smaller 18" or 20" chainsaw is lighter and MUCH easier to handle.

What accessories and safety gear are included with this chainsaw rental?

To ensure safe and productive operation, we provide a complete support kit at no extra charge. This required kit includes a safety helmet, protective chaps, bar and chain oil, a wrench, an extra chain, and a 2 gallon container of pre-mixed 2-cycle gas (no charge for fuel as long as can is return).

What kind of fuel does this chainsaw use, and do I need to refill it?

This chainsaw runs on a specific 2-cycle gas and oil mixture. We provide the necessary pre-mixed fuel with your rental at no extra charge. Never use regular unleaded gasoline from a standard pump, as running unmixed gas will instantly seize and ruin the engine.

What safety precautions and PPE are required when operating this 28" chainsaw?

Due to the high power and long bar length, you must wear the provided safety helmet and protective chaps at all times. Always maintain a firm two-handed grip, stand to the side of the cut path to avoid kickback injuries, and ensure the chain brake is engaged whenever you are starting the saw or moving between cuts.

What should I do if the chainsaw chain becomes dull or gets pinched in a log?

If the saw starts producing fine sawdust instead of clean wood chips, the chain is dull; turn off the engine and swap it with the provided extra sharp chain. If the bar gets pinched in a cut, do not try to force or wrench it out, as this can bend the bar; instead, use a plastic felling wedge or a second log to relieve the pressure before pulling the saw free.

How should I safely transport this chainsaw to my jobsite?

The chainsaw can easily be transported in the trunk of a car, a pickup bed, or an SUV. Always transport the saw with the protective bar scabbard in place, keep it upright to prevent fuel or bar oil leaks, and secure it so it cannot roll or tip over during transit.
