The evaporative cooling fan is designed to lower the temperature of the outgoing air by pulling the air through a wick that has water flowing over it.
Great for outdoor events.

NOTE: This is NOT an air conditioner and does not blow cold, dry air.

FAQ

When should I rent an evaporative cooling fan instead of an air conditioner or standard fan?

This unit is ideal for large, open-air, or high-airflow environments where containing chilled air from an AC is impossible and standard fans only circulate hot air. This is commonly used for: cooling outdoor tent weddings; keeping guests comfortable at festival pavilions; spot-cooling open mechanic and maintenance bays; ventilating loading dock staging areas; providing relief in open livestock or equestrian barns; and cooling backyard patio gatherings. For sealed indoor rooms, choose a refrigerated portable air conditioner instead.

How does an evaporative cooling fan work compared to a portable air conditioner?

An evaporative cooler lowers air temperature by drawing warm air across water-saturated wicking media, using natural evaporation to blow noticeably cooler air at 3,020 CFM. Unlike a compressor-driven air conditioner, it does not remove moisture or deliver refrigerated dry air; it cools by adding humidity to moving air. It requires continuous fresh air flow to remain effective.

Can this evaporative cooler be used indoors?

It should only be used in indoor areas that have constant fresh-air turnover, such as open warehouses, machine shops with bay doors rolled up, or covered pole barns. Running it in an enclosed, unventilated room will rapidly raise humidity to muggy levels and eliminate cooling performance. If windows and doors must remain closed, rent a standard portable AC unit.

What are the electrical power requirements to run this fan?

The fan runs on standard 120V electricity and draws 12.4 amps, meaning it should be plugged into a dedicated 15-amp or 20-amp outlet to prevent breaker trips. It includes a 9-foot power cord. If you must use an extension cord, use a heavy-duty 12-gauge or 10-gauge cord rated for commercial equipment to prevent motor strain and voltage drop.

How do I hook up water to the cooler?

The cooler can be connected directly to a standard 3/4-inch garden hose for continuous water supply, or its onboard water reservoir can be filled manually where hose access is not available. Ensure hose lines running to the unit are kept out of main walkways or covered with cable ramps to prevent guest tripping hazards at public events.

What vehicle do I need to transport the evaporative cooler?

The unit measures 36" wide by 36" long by 60" tall and weighs 205 lbs dry. Because it stands 5 feet tall and cannot be laid on its side with water in the system, it will not fit in SUVs, minivans, or passenger cars. You will need a pickup truck with tie-down points or an open/enclosed trailer with ramps, or you can request jobsite delivery from Gap Power.

How much cooling should I expect on very humid summer days?

Evaporative cooling works best in hot, dry air, where it can lower outgoing air temperatures by 10°F to 20°F. When outdoor humidity is already extremely high, the air cannot absorb as much evaporated moisture, so the temperature drop will be more modest. Even in high humidity, the 3,020 CFM airflow and slight temperature drop provide significant evaporative relief over stagnant air.
